Scott Thomas, Search Marketing Manager scott@apokrisis.com Scott has taken a rather circuitous route to his current profession in Internet marketing. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in Biology, and has had a passion for science and learning about the natural world from an early age. Scott spent many summers in Alaska guiding small group eco-tours. Eventually, he moved to Alaska and worked full time managing guide staff in the summer, and in the winter, recruiting seasonal staff for three wilderness lodges. After designing a summer jobs website, he quickly became fascinated with the challenge of getting the site's pages to rank well in the search engines (and out-ranking larger sites!). From there, he often became the point person on website projects for his employers. A launch of a profitable website for a non-profit employer gave Scott the confidence to set out on his own, working as an Internet marketing consultant specializing in search engine optimization and pay per click management. After four years of occasionally helping us on projects and being a friendly competitor, he has joined the team at Apokrisis. Scott enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter and many outdoor activities, including: hiking, bird watching, skiing, and running. His other hobbies includes brushing up on his dinosaur knowledge and Lego building skills with his daughter Jillian (born in 2005), and "bleeding purple" for his beloved Vikings. Scott's volunteer work has included serving as a board member of the Anchorage Audubon Society, and helping to solve computer problems at his daughter's preschool. |
